Cost Alerts

Get emailed when a recipe crosses its pour cost threshold, ingredient prices rise by 5%+, or a key product goes out of stock.

02 — How To Use It

Build your first
recipe in 3 minutes.

Open the Recipes tab

Click + New Recipe. Give it a name, set the menu price you charge customers, and pick the category (Cocktail, Spirit Forward, Low ABV, or Mocktail).

Search for ingredients

Type any spirit, liqueur, or mixer in the search bar. Use the category chips (Tequila, Vodka, Gin, Rum…) to filter first. Bar staples like Simple Syrup, Fresh Lime Juice, and Ginger Beer are already in the catalog.

Set your pour sizes

Each ingredient defaults to 1.5oz. Adjust the pour size for each — the cost sidebar updates in real time. You'll see your total pour cost, pour cost %, and the suggested menu price to hit your target margin.

Save and repeat

Hit Save Recipe. Your recipe appears on the Dashboard with its profitability rating. Build out your full menu — the more recipes you add, the more useful the Dashboard becomes.

Archive off-menu drinks

Rotating specials or seasonal cocktails? Use the 📦 Archive button in the recipe editor to move them off your active menu without deleting them. Restore anytime from the Archive tab.

03 — Find Products

Browse the full
distributor catalog.

The Find tab lets you browse 3,100+ spirits by category, $/oz range, and distributor — without building a recipe first. Great for comparing options before you commit to an ingredient.

Filter by spirit type, set a $/oz budget, pick a distributor, and the results sort A→Z. Click + on any product to add it directly to whatever recipe you have open.

Every morning after the nightly price sync, CocktailCost checks your recipes and emails you if anything needs attention.

Price Increase Alert

An ingredient's distributor price rose by more than your threshold (default: 5%). Your pour cost just changed — you may need to reprice.

Default: 5% increase

Pour Cost Threshold

A recipe's total pour cost percentage crossed its limit. Set a custom threshold per recipe — the default is 30% of menu price.

Default: 30% pour cost

Out of Stock

An ingredient used in one of your recipes is showing as out of stock across all distributors. Time to find a substitute or 86 the drink.

OOS across all sources

Daily Digest Email

One email per day — only when something needs your attention. No noise. You can also trigger it manually from the Alerts tab anytime.
